When thinking of why I wanted to start my own wrought iron business, the first words coming into my mind are:

CREATIVITY, PASSION, EXCLUSIVITY AND BEAUTY.

After looking for the right premises for quite some time, the saying:

“Being at the right place at the right time” is very true in my situation.

I walked into a little shop stacked with wrought iron lights, chandeliers and lamps and on the spur of the moment I asked the Italian guy:
“Don’t you want to sell your business?”  He said yes and I made him an offer which he thought about over the weekend and after a few weeks the transaction was finalised.

On the 2^nd of March 2015 I officially started EXCLUSIVIO, derived from the word EXCLUSIVE.

I re-employed all the existing staff and what a blessing!  They are all masters in their own right: –

Luca:  What a creative person and hard worker.  An Italian blessing with a lot of skills.  Making chandeliers for 27 years.

More:  A black guy knowing the art of spinning all different shapes, sizes and patterns in mild steel, copper and brass.

Happy:  A black lady who has mastered different painting techniques over years.  Mixing black and gold, black and bronze and black and silver to give that special look like antique gold.

Peggy:  Also a black lady, they say “practice makes perfect” and after more than 30 years doing the assembling and wiring of all the chandeliers, lamps and outside lights,  she really is an asset to the business.

Jumping into the deep side it was a matter of perseverance.  The orders started to come in and with my competent staff, it started to pay off. We supply shops in Pretoria and Johannesburg with chandeliers, components and fittings for lights.

On the 4^th of May 2015 I appointed Pierries du Toit as my manager/sales representative.  Stainless steel is his forte and now we also do balustrades, gates and burglar proofing.

I like to play around with new ideas and to create things that cannot be found in shops.
